There are many reports of the Apple Watch as a savior in times of need. In the past, we also described a case from America in which the watch contributed to a vital diagnosis.
The fact that such a gadget can also go the other way and cause injuries is now shown by a case of an American like that Website 9to5Mac reports. Luckily, the wearer was able to throw the watch out the window in time to prevent worse. But what exactly happened?
overheating with consequences
The wearer of a Series 7 from Apple reported to the website 9to5Mac that he felt the watch unusually hot when the problem started. Eventually, he found that the back of the watch had ballooned a lot and the smartwatch was showing a high temperature warning.
Wisely, the American took the watch off his wrist and contacted Apple support at short notice. Ultimately, he was asked not to touch the watch until further notice, until he received a phone call from Apple – which didn’t happen for a long time.

The next morning, the heat problem appeared not only to persist, but to worsen, according to the wearer. The heat in the case had increased so much that the watch’s display had shattered.
When its owner was about to start taking photos for Apple, the tragedy continued and the Apple Watch began crate noises
to give away. The American threw the smartwatch out of the window just in time before it started to explode. Fortunately, the clock did not cause any major fire damage except on the furniture. In a video, a clear smoke can be seen, which makes the extent of this heat development more than clear:

Again, the user turned to Apple to provide the latest events of the threatening situation. In the end, he was only told that the case had the highest priority and that Apple would pick up the defective product for the laboratory to investigate further. The exact cause of this heat development remains unclear at this time.
Apparently Apple tried to get a non-disclosure agreement. However, the owner refused and instead turned to the website 9to5Mac. The man went to the emergency room out of concern, but found no serious injuries to the body.
Isolated case or a bigger problem from Apple?
We’ve contacted Apple for an assessment of the situation and will update you in this article if we receive a response. In the past there was at least increased evidence of batteries bloating and, in the worst case, ending in a small detonation. The website Golem already reported on a corresponding class action lawsuit against Apple.
Currently, at least, it cannot be assumed that this is a general problem. If your Apple Watch feels unusually hot on your wrist and the device even shows a message on the display, you should be careful and remove the watch from your body.
Researchers were recently able to identify an explosion of a completely different dimension in space using the remains of a supernova. You can find out more about this in the following article:
