Let’s be honest: every year at the next Apple hardware event, we hope for the new product that knocks our socks off. Instead, in many cases, we get a sobering and rehashed product that is an incremental sequel.
Apple could turn around this year and cause euphoria with the upcoming AR/VR glasses. Apparently, the iPhone manufacturer is investing immense resources in the development of the new gadget and its operating system (see also the article linked below), so that the other products in the portfolio will probably suffer at least in 2023.

Apple seems to have momentous priorities
In the latest edition of his Power On Newsletters Apple journalist Mark Gurman describes Apple’s new focus for 2023. The company and its developers and engineers are concentrating on the development of the upcoming AR/VR glasses and their xrOS operating system.
As a result, the claims for iOS 17 are reduced and the operating system “receives fewer major changes than originally planned”. The iPhone will therefore not receive a similar major update as in September 2022 with iOS 16. The same fate should also blossom for the macOS operating system.
It will probably also affect the upcoming hardware upgrades of iPads, Apple Watches, Macs and Apple TVs. The next major upgrade is not expected for the iPad range until next year. In 2024, the Pro models of the tablets should boast an OLED panel.
In 2023, the Macs will receive improved M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which will differ only marginally from their predecessors in terms of performance. The rest of the mobile computers stay with the well-known.
Anyone hoping for a successor to the AirPods Max line could also be disappointed. Apple is said to have no significant plans for the AirPods, so the portfolio of over-ear headphones should continue to be limited to the AirPods Max from 2020.
In addition, Mark Gurman does not predict any notable innovations for Apple’s smartwatch this year. As in 2022, the increases in performance should be rather small. The TV product should not even get an upgrade.
A little more movement on the iPhone?
The product with the highest sales – the iPhone – should at least be able to show significant changes. Accordingly, the new display recess is named Dynamic Island
reach the entire iPhone 15 range. Apple is also giving the smartphone the USB-C connection that the community has been longing for. The Pro model will also reportedly have haptic volume buttons and a titanium frame.
Of course, these predictions should be treated with caution. After all, it will still be a few months before the new models are released. It remains exciting to see whether Apple will stick to its pricing policy despite the small changes. Recently, the manufacturer has turned the price screw for almost all hardware products and streaming services. You can find out more about this here:
