The release list for 2022 is emptying at an alarming rate. Having just postponed Marvel’s Midnight Suns from 2K, it’s now the turn of Arc Raiders.
Arc Raiders, a new sci-fi shooter from previous Battlefield and Battlefront developers, was originally scheduled to be released in 2022 on PC (Epic Games Store, Steam), GeForce NOW, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Big surprise (not): it doesn’t work out like so many other games.
In a statement via Twitter, the developers announced that they have decided to postpone the game until 2023: “Arc Raiders is an ambitious game and we will use this additional time to expand the experience and realize its full potential. We will announce more details as soon as we can test the game extensively with the players.”
Arc Raider was only announced in December 2021 and comes from new studio Embark Studios led by Patrick Söderlund, who was previously CEO at DICE, the developers of Battlefield and Battlefront. The third-person shooter in the sci-fi universe is based on cooperative play with numerous weapons, tools and gadgets, but also exploits and manipulates physics and environments.
