Kakao Games will shut down the European and North American servers of ArcheAge on June 27th.
The open-world MMO was released in both regions in 2014, but its servers are shutting down due to a decline in active players and users.
“After discussing ArcheAge’s performance in detail with XL Games, we have concluded that we are no longer able to deliver the MMORPG we envisioned,” the notice reads. “The decline in active players means that the game’s content is no longer as accessible as it once was, and the experience of the game is different from what was originally intended. In light of this, we have made the difficult decision to end the development of ArcheAge. Live service in Europe and North America.
“We know this news is disappointing because it’s a feeling we all share. ArcheAge has been a big part of our lives and we know many of you have been playing the game many times longer than we have. When As we approach the end of our journey, we invite you to join us as we sail off into the sunset. ”
To express our gratitude to players, the ArcheAge Sunset event will be closed on June 27. During this period, top-level equipment will be available for free, allowing you to explore content you may not have tried before.
In addition to equipment, growth materials such as Lunagem, Labor, and Temper will be provided, and a faction exile scroll will be given out every week so that you can transfer to the faction of your choice. You can get equipment support for free in the mall, and experience points, conflict/war/siege/mission honor points, career badges and loot drop rates will be increased by 5 points. This enhancement also applies to instances.
There will also be a mall sale event, during which all items purchased with points in the mall will enjoy an 80% discount. Details of the list of available items can be found in the store.
If you’d like a refund, please note that all unused credits and purchased network packages are not eligible for a refund; however, if you purchased via Steam, XL Gamesa says to contact Steam’s customer support. However, due to extraordinary circumstances, any items purchased in the last 14 days prior to this announcement will be refunded, provided the items purchased have not yet been collected from network inventory.
Any sponsorship time and Tactful Life gain time remaining after April 25 will be automatically converted into points. You will earn 50 points for one day of sponsorship and 41 points for one day of Tactful Life.
Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer your game data to a different region.
ArcheAge is developed by XL Games, a company founded by Korean developer Jake Song (former developer of Lineage), which is currently developing a sequel for PC and consoles. Song said that in ArcheAge 2, you can expect upgraded visuals, improvements to the in-game trading system and housing, and enhanced customization features. Development goals for the game include the ability to “live in towns” with friends and create towns with guildmates.
