If you encounter any weird or annoying issues when trying to buy or sell items in Baldur’s Gate 3 after patch 6 is released, don’t worry, there’s a small fix. Hope it ends your pain.
It’s been a while since we last released a pretty robust patch for Larian’s RPG, and ahead of patch 6 we’ve got some new kissing options, idle animations, and the ability to rearrange your party without having to do anything like last week Opportunity for substantial management later in life. Unfortunately, it seemed to cause some unexpected hiccups immediately after deployment, but the new hotfix quickly fixed them.

You’ll be happy to know that the instructions for Patch 18 (now released) are nowhere near as long as those for Patch 6, mainly because only two bugs are fixed. Both fixes are related to vendors, with the first fix being to prevent “an issue that caused vendors to initially display their current gold amount as zero.” Yes, the recession is over in BG3, if not in the real UK.
Another issue that was addressed was the game crashing whenever you tried to barter with merchants, which at least feels like it could have been protected by some sort of lore explanation like a pact with the devil that Baldur’s Gate shopkeepers came from Cheapskate.
So the poor people on Reddit and Steam spent the weekend going online to tell people about their shopping problems, and then submitting bug reports to Larian about those same problems. Now you’ll be able to enjoy pure, uninterrupted, unadulterated fantasy capitalism injected directly into your eyeballs.
Larian says it’s also working on “fixes for other reported issues that have been submitted to it,” so if this patch doesn’t resolve any issues with your game, hopefully a future update will. Oh, and don’t forget to try disabling your mods in case patch 16 happens again.
