Since December 2019, the SWR2 true crime podcast “Are we talking about murder!?” established itself in the podcast scene. The most prominent guest to date can now be heard in the latest issue: Angela Merkel. ARD terrorism expert Holger Schmidt and former federal judge Thomas Fischer are not discussing a true crime case with the former Chancellor this time.

Opera fan Merkel can chat about the Wagner Ring

While “Are we talking about murder!?” deals with real cases, but the special edition with opera fan Angela Merkel revolves around criminal law connections and motives in Richard Wagner’s “Ring des Nibelungen”. In three episodes, Merkel, Schmidt and Físcher talk about the three central motifs of the work: greed, revenge and vanity. According to SWR, any similarities with actual events or living or deceased persons are purely coincidental.

“Are we talking about murder!?” appears every two weeks, on Mondays, in the ARD Audiothek, on SWR2.de and on all common podcast portals. The three episodes with Angela Merkel are now available online.
