Ark: Survival Evolved will get another new map in summer 2020 after the controversial Genesis DLC. The game world should already look familiar to veterans, because it is the revised and future official version of the map created by modders Crystal Isles.
The original Crystal Isles was released for Ark in 2016 and brings the survivors into a pretty landscape with fantasy elements like floating islands. Modder Isolde Gaming continues to work on the map and states on Steam that the world is now 75 percent complete.
With around 210,000 subscribers on Steam and over 5,000 reviews, Crystal Isles is one of the most popular mods for Ark. And as with previous maps (such as Valguero or Ragnarok), the developers are now ennobling the hardworking modders by integrating their work into the main game.
New creatures for Crystal Isles
The new map for Ark: Survival Evolved is not everything – even what lives on it finds its way into the survival game. Crystal Isles already contains familiar animals, but also comes with new creatures and dinosaurs:
- A total of 147 Ark creatures frolic in the world.
- 21 of them are unique and can only be found on the Crystal Isles.
- Four bosses provide extra challenges for high-level players.

New prehistoric being: Until the release in summer, a new dino is to be added to Crystal Isles, which can be tamed and was inspired by a real model. Developer Wildcard has not yet revealed which animal it is.
