Studio Wildcard is known to be working on a comprehensive new edition of ARK with the new subtitle Survival Ascended – but this is taking longer than initially planned.
The ARK: Survival Ascended remaster was supposed to be available next month of August, but that’s not going to happen. Developer Studio Wildcard has now confirmed in a blog entry that the release will be delayed.
“After careful consideration, we have decided to delay the launch of ARK: Survival Ascended to later this year and to release the title for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC in October 2023,” reads the statement . The delay is therefore around two months.
Something was also said about the background: According to this, “working with the Unreal Engine 5.2 is more challenging” than expected. Every day you discover new ways to take the fresh technology to a higher level. Since you are also developing an ecosystem with cross-platform mods on consoles and PC, it has become clear that you simply need a little more time.
The remaster based on the new Unreal Engine had already been drawn into a shitstorm within the community since it was announced; The main reason for this was the pricing. After adjustments had already been made in this regard, the recommended price was reduced from $44.99 to $39.99. Again, there is a reason for this: The Island will be the only map available at launch; the Scorched Earth map won’t be released until December. The other maps Ragnarok and Aberration will not be released until the first quarter of 2024.
