Armored Core: New part of the Elden Ring makers on the way?

From Software is best known today for Dark Souls, Sekiro, and the approaching Elden Ring, but now the studio may revert to an earlier video game franchise: Armored Core.

When you think of From Software, you rarely think of Armored Core. The development studio was working on the mech-based action series a long time ago, before Dark Souls made it really big. The makers could now apparently return to that classic series of games.

A long time ago there were rumors of a comeback of Armored Core penned by From Software, but it had been quiet for a long time – until now. A user of the gaming forum ResetEra brought to light a survey among end customers; this also includes the first screenshots and even a 30-second video.

Accordingly, the new Armored Core is a third-person mech action title that is set on the planet Bashtar. It’s a sci-fi world that was destroyed by a planet-wide catastrophe. The description goes on to say that in mech battles, weapons can be used over greater distances as well as melee weapons such as swords and shields. The title is also said to offer a variety of different maps, challenging opponents and a high replayability value.

You should be able to individualize mechs and adapt them to your play style. For example, you can aim this for close combat with high mobility or at greater distances with strong firepower.

You can see the mentioned pictures in the inserted tweet. An official confirmation from From Software or publisher Bandai Namco has not yet been received, so it remains to be seen whether a new Armored Core will actually come from the cult developer. The last series offshoot was Armored Core: Verdict Day from 2013 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
