Mesut Ozil has withdrawn from PES 2020 in China.
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has gone from Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 Games in China.
China NetEase operates the PES 2020 mobile version and other PES games in China, and the company said Ozil's remarks hurt the feelings of Chinese fans, adding that it "does not understand, accept or forgive" his remarks.
The Turkish-German athlete personally calls on the Chinese government to treat Uighur Muslims Social media account. China, which said Ozil had been deceived by fake news, has been keeping Muslims in Xinjiang cells for "reeducation."
Abacus News reports that Ozil's remarks upset Chinese Premier League fans, who in turn called him on social media and even burned his Arsenal jersey in protest.
This is the latest in a long list of events in which companies operating in China have made changes to their games to appease the Chinese government, although in this case Konami did not appear to have made the decision. However, the Japanese creator has yet to comment.
