A member of the Helldivers 2 community may have just discovered a weird bug that’s causing PC users to think their keyboards may be at fault. Yes, if your Helldiver suddenly slows down from sprint speed to jog speed and you’re not doing anything, it turns out they may just be feeling someone else’s stimulation.
While some players were busy investigating this, they found time to deal with the latest Master Order, which requires players to continue their heroic efforts to save those poor Super Earth children by killing some baby Terminids. Come on, stop fussing and put them in your sights.

The guy who seemingly has this case thoroughly uncovered claims to have “worked in the games industry for over 20 years,” and makes a passing mention at the end of a long post on the Helldivers 2 subreddit outlining why they find the game’s lifespan so far to be quite interesting given the many issues that have arisen in the game.
“I’ll finally tell you about a bug that I haven’t heard anyone point out yet,” they wrote. “Play with a friend and injure yourself so you’re down to a quarter of your health. Have your friend start sprinting, then use a stim. Yes, if you use a stim while someone else is sprinting, they will stop sprinting. This is why you keep slowing down when you’re randomly sprinting.”
While it seems unlikely to believe that someone unrelated to the game could pinpoint the exact cause of what a large number of gamers believe is a faulty keyboard, some players have been quick to test it and provide some evidence to support the poster’s claims.

“Both players on PC, neither will slow down the player sprinting with the controller, but will slow down when they switch to mouse and keyboard,” user MikeAmelung explained of the aforementioned clip, which certainly seems to confirm the theory that the doping guy on your squad is what causes the animation to temporarily switch to a light jog, before immediately reverting back to sprinting for the player who was pushing the input.
While some have suggested that factors like your distance from the player injecting the stimulant and whether you’re acting as a host could also play a role in whether or not you’re affected, it’s definitely something Arrowhead wants to add to its list of things to research.
Also, in case you missed it, the studio’s CEO recently said they have no plans to create a dedicated co-op story mode for Helldivers 2 because it would be the equivalent of making an entirely new game in terms of the effort required.
