Yesterday Microsoft released security updates for Windows 10 and Windows 11. The last update for Windows 11 version 22H2 was also there.
Im Detail:
- The version of Windows 11 released in 2022 will no longer receive updates in the future.
- PCs can be updated to the newer versions 23H2 or 24H2.
- The latest version is Windows 11 version 24H2.
Good to know: Microsoft supports every version of Windows 11 for home users with updates for exactly two years. After that, the versions will no longer receive support.
The following editions of Windows 11 are affected:
- Windows 11 Home (22H2)
- Windows 11 Pro (22H2)
Microsoft says that most PCs will automatically update to a new version of Windows 11 once they reach end of support. But there are cases in which this does not happen.
Run the update manually
To find out which version of Windows is installed on your PC, do the following:
- Opens the start menu.
- Selects Settings.
- Now go to System → Info.
Under Windows specifications is the edition and version of Windows 11.
If version 22H2 is there, the computer needs an update to a new version of the operating system.
You can usually trigger the update via Windows Update:
- Go to Windows Update in Settings.
- Activate the “Check for updates” item on the page.
- After checking, select “Install now”.
Windows Update should offer you a new version of Windows 11 for download. If this is the case, the new version will be downloaded and installed.
