While the last big patch for Hellraiser 2 went smoothly, it also appears to have brought with it a host of new issues for Arrowhead to investigate. To its credit, the studio is currently investigating the two biggest issues players are reporting so far, though that list seems to be getting longer by the day.
If you’re not in the know, some people are reporting that the patch’s changes to how enemies spawn – by reducing the number of heavy units thrown at the humans in favor of more smaller enemies – actually made things more difficult as they go about rescuing and then killing the child. Arrowhead has now confirmed that it’s investigating the matter, but the situation is clearly not as simple as it seems.

In a post on the game’s Discord server, community manager Twinbeard shared an update on the studio’s investigation into reports that these adjustments, which are intended to reduce instances of players getting helplessly stuck at higher difficulties, have failed to address. “For those asking about patrols/enemy presence, this is a complicated issue,” he wrote, “rather than trying to get into the details, and likely failing, I thought we should try to provide a proper explanation of how it works, what changes we made, and how we expect it to work in terms of enemy presence.”
“We’ve received some mixed results/feedback,” the community manager continued, “and we’re pretty clear on why, but it’s still early and we need more time to monitor and evaluate. There may be more adjustments in the future. Please continue to provide your thoughts on how things are going or failing! It’s hard to improve without it.”
Twinbeard also said he’s been waiting to confirm what the “Advanced Packing Method” ship module is actually “supposed to do,” while players claim that it currently doesn’t do what it’s described to do – namely provide a full ammo resupply for support weapons when resupplying. Social menu issues causing performance degradation, which seem to be primarily occurring on PS5, are also being investigated.
Got it? Well, now there’s another issue on the list of issues players want Arrowhead to focus on. That’s the ballistic shield, with people citing a host of issues including aiming issues when equipped, a failure to provide protection in certain situations, and colliding with the shield either causing massive amounts of damage to the wielder or kicking off ragdoll chains.
So yeah, it doesn’t look like Arrowhead will have any free time anytime soon, even if players are busy trying to expel the Teminids from Hellmire.
