Bethesda is closing out the year by sharing some facts and figures about Starfield, as well as providing an in-depth look at what we can expect from the game in 2024.
Yesterday, Bethesda shared a blog post about Starfield, updating the player count to 13 million, which is a bit more than the last update. That’s a healthy enough statistic, although specific player usage obviously doesn’t tell us much about the game’s actual sales. There are some other stats shared in the post, like that you guys have invested a total of 22,284,331 days in the game, which, to be clear, is over 61,000 years old, so you know, it’s not exactly chump change. This also means 26,027,845 hours of ship construction, 1,972,345,902 planets visited, and 4,575,289 outpost settlers.

Beyond the stats, though, Bethesda also shared what we can expect from the game. While that sounds pretty optimistic, the post notes that Bethesda “aims to update roughly every six weeks starting in February. These updates will include everything from quality-of-life improvements to content and feature updates.” Also planned Introducing “a new way to travel, you can now access city maps while exploring major cities. For those who love shipbuilding, we’ll also be expanding ship customization with ship decorations, new ship customizations”. Shipbuilding options and more. ”
More gameplay options are also planned, which will let you “change your gameplay for an easier or more challenging experience” and provide options such as “carrying capacity, cargo access distance, ship damage, vendors Credit, how you suffer, new survival mechanisms, etc.”
Official mod support was also mentioned, and starting early next year, “Starfield will have its own exporter and you’ll have access to the new creation toolkit.” Finally, the game’s first expansion, Shattered Space, is still in development , and will include new stories, locations, gear, and more. No release date has been provided, but it’s expected next year.
