EA revealed that the leadership of DICE Stockholm, the developer of Battlefield, has changed.
After EA released its third quarter earnings report for fiscal 2020, as part of a conference call with investors, the publisher talked about the next battlefield DICE games.
As mentioned earlier, the game will take advantage of next-generation hardware and will be released between April 2021 and March 2022-possibly around the fall of 2021.
But what we don't know is that as development work on the next battlefield began, EA made some adjustments to the studio's leadership. Although specifics such as name and position were not disclosed, the move was still interesting.
Many people believe that Stockholm's DICE has been on a decline since the release of Star Wars: Frontline 2. The decline in Battlefield 5 continues to this day, and the field is still plagued by major design issues. Perhaps this change may be the beginning of a studio's rebound.
As part of the same appeal, EA also confirmed that the upcoming renamed DICE LA will work on its own projects based on internal prototypes. However, the publisher did not say whether these products will become Battlefield games.
Vince Zampella, now in charge of DICE LA, doesn't seem to be involved in the development of the next Battlefield game.
In addition to sharing their excitement about the game, EA executives did not disclose any gameplay or setting details, which makes sense for their launch goals.
Beyond the battlefield, EA said that "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" exceeded expectations and revealed that it will release 12 new games this fiscal year.
