The slowdown in PS4 sales is enough to allow Sony to change its forecast for the gaming sector.
Sony has announced financial results for the third quarter of its fiscal year 2019 (October 1 to December 31). Not surprisingly, sales continue to fall PS4 Reached the bottom line of the company.
Revenues from the gaming sector fell by 20%, including hardware and software. Just like the Xbox One, PS4 sales have been declining over the past few years as we approach the generation.
The third quarter of each fiscal year covers the holiday season and usually breaks sales records. However, after the 9.7 million units sold during the 2016 holiday season, PS4 console sales have been dwindling since the fourth quarter. In the past holiday season, only 6.1 million units were sold, down from 8.1 the previous year.
So far, the total sales volume of the PS4 has reached 108.9 million units. The next Q3 will be when the PS5 is officially released, so as the PS4 continues to fall to next year, it should ease.
During the same earnings call, Sony also stated that it was not ready to announce the price of the PS5 due to fierce competition.
