One of the most important members of Ubisoft in recent years leaves his position. Raphael Lacoste, art director of numerous installments of Assassin’s Creed, steps aside and leaves the French company after more than a decade in it.
As he has revealed through his Twitter account, the creative has indicated that it is time to “set sail for new adventures and challenges”
Good morning all,
It is not without emotions I have to tell you that after 8 assassins, 16 years at Ubisoft I have decided to set sails on new adventures and challenges. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/ZynG1pXoK9

Hello, everyone. It is not without emotions I have to tell you that after 8 assassins and 16 years at Ubisoft I have decided to set sail for new adventures and challenges. 1/3
Lacoste was part of the Ubisoft Montreal team and served as the franchise’s art director since 2012, although his journey dates back to Assassin’s Creed original de 2007. He has defined all the visual content of the series with other games such as Revelations, Black Flag, Origins or the most recent Valhalla.
The person in charge only mentions that “it was time to take another leap of faith” and there is no link to the harassment and abuse controversies that have implicated Ubisoft in recent times. In fact, a collective complaint has been filed against the company in this sense.
For the next game in the saga we will have Assassin’s Creed Infinity, a platform as a service that will allow us move to different times and regions. Many of them will surely be inspired by the work done by Lacoste.
