Fans of the series are eagerly awaiting the promising Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red. Now the final name of the game may have been leaked!
Under the working title Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red, Ubisoft is currently working on the next main part of the renowned and long-standing successful series, which is scheduled to come onto the market this year. There have been frequent leaks in the past about the game, which is said to be set in feudal Japan. Now the final title could possibly have appeared online.
The Twitter account UBI_FraxV2 has now spoken out via social media, according to which Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red will finally be available in stores as Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. The alleged leaker also reports that two DLC releases are firmly planned.
Shortly after the leak about this account made the rounds, it was ultimately banned by the social media service X aka Twitter for violating its guidelines and has not been released since. The supposed name of the new Assassin’s Creed has been making the rounds through other channels in the meantime, but verification of the leak is currently not possible, which is why you should simply continue to treat the information as a rumor until further notice.
If UBI_FraxV2 is right with his information, the chosen subtitle could definitely have content implications for the upcoming game. This was also the case with Assassin’s Creed in the past. For example, Origins explored the origins of the ancestors of the Templar Order, while Odyssey took up the epic journey of the same name from Greek mythology. The most recent part, Mirage, not only refers to the desert setting, but also to the true identity and development of Basim.
If the new part is actually called Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, the chosen title implies a stealth focus on a large scale. This could also be synonymous with Templars and Assassins acting from the shadows.
Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red is set to take place in feudal Japan during the Warring Sengoku period and is expected to feature two playable protagonists. The formal presentation of the title is expected at Ubisoft Forward in the summer; the event is scheduled to take place on June 10, 2024.
