Ubisoft finally showed the first game scenes from the next Assassin’s Creed part Mirage, which will be released on October 12th. In it you are known to play the prehistory of Basim, an important supporting character from Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
As already known, Mirage takes place in Baghdad in the 9th century. In a short trailer, the figure of Basim was first introduced. He makes his way as a thief in the streets of Baghdad until one day he is rescued from soldiers by an ominous assassin and introduced to the order of assassins. Mirage thus connects directly to the storyline of Assassin’s Creed: Origins and its DLC The Hidden Ones and leads to the story of the very first part with Altair.
The story revolves around the city’s corrupt regime, which must be brought down by the fledgling order of assassins. As in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, you appear to be taking over the various districts of the city and setting up the Order’s offices as bases. In this sense, Mirage will apparently be a kind of best of all old series parts.
Playfully and visually, Mirage also seems like a nod to the older games in the series. The iconic white robes from the first Altair episode, the scene in which Basim learns the assassin’s death leap, but above all the gameplay leads back to the roots: Parkour is back, jumping over roofs, balancing over beams and strings , hiding from captors and fleeing after a successful assassination at the center of the gaming experience and less the gigantomy of a huge game world. You even leave the iconic feathers behind at the crime scene after a successful assignment.

This is also demonstrated in the subsequent gameplay presentation by narrative director Sarah Beaulieu. In it, the developers showed Basim being sent on his first assassination attempt. As can be seen, the player can always choose between different orders on the “bulletin board” of the order.
Scouting, hiding, creating distractions – Mirage once again plays more like the series’ Hitman beginnings and less like searching for question marks on the map. Numerous gadgets are also used, such as a blowgun, which was shown in the presentation.
