In September, Ubisoft will comment on the future of Assassin’s Creed, but many details may have already been made public due to a leak.
If you believe a new report, then the next Assassin’s Creed, so far commonly named after the internal working title Rift, will be called Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and then follow Valhalla. At least that’s what the YouTuber j0nathan wants to know, who also gives further details about the title, which sometimes coincide with previous leaks.
The new action title, which is said to be scheduled for spring 2023, will have Basim as the main character and will take you to Baghdad for the setting; this location had also been mentioned before for a new Assassin’s Creed. The game is said to take place between the years 860 and 870.
A previous Bloomberg report had suggested Basim as a potential character. Accordingly, Mirage was originally planned as an extension to Valhalla, but then became too big for it. Since the title was initially planned as an add-on, it should also be smaller than the series parts in the end.
According to j0nathan, the gameplay should be based more on the origins of the action series and therefore offer fewer RPG elements. In addition, there should be no large dialogues with options or a level system.
The YouTuber provides further details, which according to Bloomberg’s usually well-informed Jason Schreier are not necessarily accurate. This includes the statement that there will not be multiple cities to explore in the new title.
The situation seems less clear with regard to another statement in the report: Ubisoft is also said to be working on a remake of the first Assassin’s Creed, which should be included in a Mirage Season Pass. That same Season Pass will also reportedly include your Constantinople DLC a few months after the main game’s release.
It remains to be seen whether these rumors will come true. Clarity should prevail from September 10th, when Ubisoft will broadcast its in-house presentation Ubisoft Forward.
