For some time now there have been rumors about the next Assassin's Creed, which is subtitled Ragnarok and is said to be located during the Viking era. Just a few days ago, the game appeared on both GameStop and Amazon, which means it can almost be confirmed, although an official announcement by Ubisoft is still pending.
So far there are no tangible details, but a new leak could be remedied 4chan to care. Of course, this is a rumor to be used with caution, but even if it does 4chan often "shone" with leaks that were not confirmed, so there were also numerous rumors that happened later.
If you believe the new leak, Assassin's Creed Ragnarok will appear as a cross-gen title for PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. A release date should also be set by September 29, 2020, although a later release would also be conceivable on the next-gen platforms, depending on the console release.
Assassin's Creed Ragnarok is also said to have a co-op mode for up to four players and is therefore somewhat comparable to Ghost Recon: Wildlands. You will again have the choice between a male and a female main character named Jora. In co-op, the other players take on the roles of Jora's companions.
The new serial spin-off is to focus more on RPG mechanics and will be class-based this time. There will also be an upgrade system for weapons in addition to weapon durability. The combat system focuses on parrying attacks and the associated correct timing. In a berserk mode you should also be able to activate magical powers that can cause additional fire, frost or lightning damage. And: Sailing mechanics should also return in some form, as in Assassin's Creed 3.
The leaky progress system is compared to Skyrim's. You can earn experience points to improve certain skills. This should also enable special skills to be unlocked. Skills should also depend on the progress in the action, even if you have possibly already collected the necessary experience points beforehand.
According to the leak, the map is "massive" and you should be able to explore "the entire north of Europe". The specifically mentioned cities include York, London, Paris and Kiev.
It remains to be seen whether the 4chan-Leak in this form is actually confirmed when Ubisoft officially announces the game. We'll keep you up to date!
