Assassin’s Creed Shadows: This changes a classic feature of the series

Assassins, classic, Creed, feature, series, shadows

In the newly announced Assassin’s Creed Shadows, a long-standing and classic feature of the franchise will change. We’ll tell you here what exactly is happening at the viewing points.

Ubisoft made a big splash this week and officially announced Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Not only will you be transported to feudal Japan for the first time in the long-standing franchise, another well-known feature of the series will also change more fundamentally: the viewpoints.

The vantage points known from Assassin’s Creed will also return in Shadows, but the way they work will be different from the previous parts. In previous titles you could go to the highest point of buildings and structures to automatically uncover further parts of the map, with some POIs being marked automatically. Afterwards, players could go directly to these interesting places and have fun there.

Opposite IGN It has now been confirmed that everything will work a little differently with Shadows. There are still Viepoints, but these will no longer automatically reveal the card when you reach them; The usual panorama settings are also omitted. Instead, you have to actively look around from there, discover interesting places yourself and mark POIs yourself; This no longer happens automatically. You can then go to these interesting places yourself and find out for yourself what is going on and what is on offer there. However, climbing a vantage point will still activate a checkpoint for fast travel in the game.

The original method made revealing the map fairly easy, but also repetitive and there were certainly voices in the community who viewed the rather clumsy climb to the viewpoints as boring and more of a compulsory task.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and will be released on November 15, 2024.
