Ubisoft has once again confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on March 20, and an approximate pre-order count has been revealed.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Launch as Planned

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will hit stores on March 20, 2025, just about a month from now. Ubisoft will not delay its release any further, after already postponing it twice (from November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025, and then to March).

This information comes from an Insider Gaming report, citing sources close to Ubisoft’s development team and marketing department.

The French company is fully confident that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on March 20, as it is “practically finished,” and they are even setting a date for the first reviews.

Additionally, as CEO Yves Guillemot mentioned a few days ago, it seems that pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S are more than promising.

The figures are close to those of Assassin’s Creed Odysseythe Ancient Greece-set title first released in October 2018. Based on pre-orders, Ubisoft expects its sales to surpass those of Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Aims to Match Odyssey’s Sales

According to Ubisoft’s CEO and the Insider Gaming report, Assassin’s Creed Shadows currently has around 300,000 pre-orders across PC, PS5, and Xbox. This means that, at the very least, the game will have that number of players at launch.

Ubisoft aims to push this number to 400,000 or 450,000 pre-ordersmatching what Assassin’s Creed Odyssey achieved over six years ago.

With one month left until release, the marketing team will fight until the end to secure those additional 100,000-150,000 pre-orders.

If pre-order trends align with sales projections, Ubisoft expects Assassin’s Creed Shadows to reach 3.5 million copies sold in its first month. While strong numbers, they still fall short of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s success in 2020.

On the bright side, Assassin’s Creed Shadows currently has more than twice as many pre-orders as Star Wars Outlaws did before launch.

As for critical reception, we’ll have to wait until March 18 to see if the game convinces both the press and fans, despite the backlash it has faced since its announcement in May 2024.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launches on March 20, 2025available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The developers have confirmed up to three ray tracing modes and a variety of side missions designed to showcase the unique abilities of each protagonist.
