For the first time in the history of the series, an Assassin’s Creed is in its second year. First we meet an old friend again, before we go into mystical realms in March.
One thing is already clear: If you have Asssassin’s Creed: Valhalla and Odyssey in possession, you should reload both games onto your consoles or your PC. Tomorrow, December 14th, two free DLCs named Assassin’s Creed Stories will be released. As you can already guess: one story is for Odyssey, the other for Valhalla. And yes, it’s a real crossover between two Assassin’s Creed heroes – Eivor meets Kassandra.
You can see for yourself how this works from tomorrow, December 14th. After all, there are hundreds of years between the stories of the two main characters. All that is clear is that Eivor and Kassandra must work together to avert an impending danger from a shard of Eden. In both games you have to have reached a certain score, which is relatively early. And you take over your characters from the respective main game.
By the way, it is extremely practical that Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey will be playable for free from December 16-19. So you can even play its variant of the crossover without owning the title. Just have to push the tube a little to get far enough in the game.
Interwoven stories appears for Valhalla as part of the new title update 1.4.1, which includes an extensive revision of the file structure. This means you have to download the entire client, but the result is improved loading times and performance as well as optimized data streaming. And: the required storage space for the game is massively reduced, depending on the platform by 13-44 GB.
Year 2 of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla will kick off on March 10, 2022, because then Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla – Dawn of Ragnarök, or The Characters of Ragnarök, will be a full-fledged expansion that should bring a whopping 35 hours of gaming time. The whole thing is being developed by Ubisoft Sofia, who were already responsible for Assassin’s Creed: Rogue and the DLC Curse of the Pharaohs.
Dawn of Ragnarök takes you into the mystical realm of Svartalfheim, which should be around a third of the size of England in the main game. As with the other mystical realms, you can get there through the Seer’s Potion in your camp. You slip again into Eivor’s parallel role as Odin and go in search of your son Baldr.
For this you need the help of the dwarves, but they live in exile in the underground after Svartalfheim was overrun by Jotnars and Muspels. So you have to deal with frost giants and fire beings. In order to do that, you receive divine powers, which you will also need, because after all you have to compete against another god yourself. So you can enchant weapons with ice, transform yourself into a raven for sneak attacks or revive opponents so that they fight by your side.
Apart from the story about the kidnapping of Baldr, you will also experience the Valkyries Challenge. This is a new arena mode with various trials in which you can compete against numerous known and unknown opponents. By the way, it is already clear that the stories and Dawn of Ragnarök will not be the last parts of year 2 of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. So be prepared for a lot.
