Good news for all fans of House of the Dragon: After the first season of the prequel reconciled many Game of Thrones fans after the controversial eighth season, the fight between the Targaryens is entering the next round.
And Season 2 might not be too far away, because one of the biggest stars in the series
HotD Season 2 could start this summer
Matt Smith, who portrays the genius Prince Daemon Targaryen, said in an interview with the BBC podcast Zoe Ball Breakfast Show
may reveal that the second season of the series will premiere on HBO in August this year.
When asked when the second season would finally start, Smith answered without thinking:
August, I think, summer. Yes, this summer. I haven’t seen anything yet, but we finished it last year.
But be careful: Smith’s comments should not be taken as a final confirmation, even if the date makes sense given the start of the first season, which also premiered in August. An official confirmation is currently pending.
There was also some official news recently, in the form of the second trailer for the new season, which you can see here:

House of the Dragon: Trailer promises epic battles and a return to Winterfell for Season 2
The second season seems to have it all: The trailer suggests that Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower are heading towards a bloody civil war in which there will be huge battles in which the dragons of the feuding parts of the family will of course also take part.
Returning for the second season are Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Emma D’Arcy as Rhaenyra Targaryen. Also returning are Eve Best as Rhaenys Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon, Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria and Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower.
Game of Thrones veteran Alan Taylor as well as Clare Kilner, Geeta Patel, Andrij Parekh and Loni Peristere are responsible for directing the new episodes.
So it remains exciting to see whether Smith’s statements come true. We will of course keep you up to date and as soon as an official start date is set, you will read about it with us.
