After a long development time, the time has finally come on February 21st and Atomic Heart will be released. However, the developers are already thinking one step ahead and are now talking about their plans for the period after the release in an interview.
Atomic Heart was presented for the first time in 2018. At that time it was still said that the title should appear in the same year. Now, five years later, we know: That was probably nothing. The founder of the development studio Mundfish, Robert Bagratuni, spoke in an interview about, among other things, why the release has been postponed so massively.
>> The craziest weapons: dead laughing, dead dancing, dead babble: it also works without shooting! <<
So you want to create a unique game. According to Bagratuni, this refers to both the story and the entire structure of Atomic Heart and the mechanics. According to him, “youth, ambition, innovation and new technologies” are to blame for the unwanted delay.
In the course of the bumpy development, it was also noticed that some elements simply have no future. For this reason, the planned multiplayer mode was canceled and we are still sticking to this decision. Now, before you pull out your torches and pitchforks, Bagratuni has other good news.
So you are currently planning a total of four DLCs, which should appear in the weeks after the release. They expand Atomic Heart with new areas, puzzles, quests, enemies, characters and background stories. Incidentally, after all the postponements, Atomic Heart should appear on February 21, 2023 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and the PC in various versions.
In the shooter, you visit an alternate version of the Soviet Union after World War II. Here, monsters, mutants and robots are waiting to be shot down by you. Self-made weapons and other auxiliary objects help with this.
