There are only about three weeks until the release of Atomic Heart. To get you really excited about the title, the developers at Mundfish have now released a big trailer. A total of eight minutes of gameplay can be seen while a narrator rattles off fresh details about the story and the actual game.
With Atomic Heart, a real surprise bag awaits us on February 21, 2023. What we’ve seen so far about the shooter looks promising, to say the least. However, the game can also turn out to be a sham. So we can be curious to see what quality developer Mundfish will ultimately deliver. In any case, the game company knows how to make the fans’ mouths water. A new trailer has just been released showing over eight minutes of footage from Atomic Heart.
>> The craziest weapons: dead laughing, dead dancing, dead babble: it also works without shooting! <<
Among other things, it is about the story of the title. The plot is known to be set in an alternative version of the Soviet Union after the end of World War II. You visit the secret military base Facility 3826 where robots were built. From their owners comes the Collective, a neural network of robots that relieve people of physical work. When Collective 2.0 is to be introduced in 1955, everything goes horribly wrong and the machines go haywire. As Major P3, you are tasked with investigating the incident and rectifying the situation.
The trailer shows some locations from Atomic Heart such as underground levels with a variety of puzzles, civil facilities or laboratories. Facility 3826 is divided into five areas. Atomic Heart will have a playing time of 25 hours. In addition to said puzzles and crisp fights, the developers promise a profound story with a few twists. Examples of the cutscenes are of course also available in the video material.
You will be accompanied by Charles, an AI that lives in your glove. He is said to act as a full-fledged sidekick and divulge story bits. He also scans the environment, creates energy shields, hacks enemy robots and much more.
The collective’s neural networks will of course also influence the gameplay. If you startle an opponent, others should be alerted and rush over. However, you can of course also hack the AIs and take advantage of them. Apart from the sheet metal comrades, you get in the way of nasty mutants that spawn offspring, for example. The Arsenal offers melee weapons like axes and mismatched clubs. You can find ammunition for the energy weapons and grenade launchers in the world or craft them yourself. Of course, all clubs and guns can be adapted in many ways.
But enough of the preamble, here are the eight minutes of gameplay:
