Deutsche Telekom’s streaming service, MagentaTV, has secured exclusive rights in Germany for five matches of the 2024 European Football Championship. However, the streaming provider’s services failed for the last of these exclusive matches.
How the mirror reported that more than 100,000 viewers were stuck in the MagentaTV registration process for the Turkey vs. Austria match last Tuesday. And even Telekom’s emergency solution of broadcasting the game via YouTube was unable to prevent viewers from missing the first goal – which was scored after 57 seconds of play.
MagentaTV could soon compensate you!
According to Spiegel, you may soon be able to get compensation for the MagentaTV glitch. The article talks about a possible refund of the first month’s MagentaTV subscription, the magazine claims to have found out this upon request. The catch: you would first have to fill out an online application. This should be possible from Monday, July 8th. We are still waiting for an official press release from Deutsche Telekom on this.
By the way: If you only booked MagentaTV for one month, you can – according to Spiegel – use the compensation to pay off all the costs you incurred through MagentaTV. Provided you canceled the streaming service in time, of course.
