Finally! After several weeks of rumors, Big N has just announced a new Nintendo Direct that promises more great announcements. What games can we expect?
Gamescom 2024 closed its doors after around 350,000 visitors. The event was once again full of announcements, but two big players were missing: PlayStation and Nintendo. Rumor has it that the two manufacturers will each give a major speech in the coming weeks or even days. Nintendo Switch players won’t have to wait long to discover the games that will accompany the hybrid console until its well-deserved retirement. The new Nintendo Direct has been made official.
August 2024 Nintendo Direct confirmed
After the rumors, it’s time to make it official. In its official reports, the Japanese publisher confirmed the holding of an Indie World followed by a Nintendo Direct Tuesday, August 27 at 3 p.m. French time. This event will focus on games coming to the hybrid console in the second half of the year and beyond. We’ll put you off right away, there’s no Nintendo Switch 2 in sight, as the manufacturer confirmed that the next machine would wait for another opportunity to present. With more than 40 minutes on the clock, this new Nintendo Direct should still be generous with announcements. So what can you expect from this August 2024 edition?
Which games can we expect?
Since this Nintendo Direct is primarily a partner showcase, the chances of seeing the next big exclusives for the Nintendo Switch are slim. So I’m not sure that Zelda Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree and even Mario & Luigi: Brothership will benefit from a nice spotlight during the event. Partners are therefore the focus. We can expect Square Enix to show more of its next modules on the console, notably Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake or FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, the latest game from the creator of Final Fantasy. Will the famous FF9 remake finally see the light of day? We don’t expect it too much.
For its part, SEGA could show more about Sonic x Shadow Generations if Sony could speed up communication around LEGO Horizon Adventures. That and probably a little shadow-throwing for the occasion. It’s difficult to make predictions for this edition of Nintendo Direct whose content hasn’t been leaked. Obviously, we want to shout HOLLOW KNIGHT SKILKSONG at the top of our lungs! What if it’s the right thing this time? We have the right to dream, even if Team Cherry announced a few days ago that they’re hard at work on their new baby.
