Since the release of Oathsworn, the board game developers at Shadowborne Games have been considered the people who focus on extremely high quality more than anything else. Oathsworn is one of the most popular connoisseur games of recent years, attracting with a huge box, countless miniatures and an epic story. The new project called Avalon: The Riven Veil won’t be quite as extensive, but the quality should still remain the same. Here too there are some great characters, this time used in a competitive area control game. When it comes to story, Avalon takes a bit of a back seat, but relies on a rich prehistory. It’s all about the promising kingdom from English mythology surrounding King Arthur and Co. This time it’s about bringing the legendary king back after his fight against Mordred. But Mordred and his army of undead also get involved. Four players can each lead a faction in Avalon and explore and conquer Avalon little by little. There are legendary treasures to recover, powerful monsters to tame and, above all, epic battles to fight. We have already talked about the whole concept in more detail in a preview. The Kickstarter campaign for Avalon officially started on November 12th and directly exceeded its goal. 47,000 dollars were requested, 650,000 dollars have already been booked. You have until December 10th to bake yourself. Or you can just wait and see how well the game does in reviews. So far at least it looks very promising!
