It’s official, a new Avatar game is in the works. So not the avatar with the blue indigenous people, but the popular fantasy series that hasn’t had any major games for a long time.
Wow, fans of fantasy games will sit up and take notice, because it has now been announced that a AAA role-playing game for Avatar: The Last Airbender is in development for PC and consoles. Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive confirmed this. The game will be created as part of a collaboration with Avatar Studios. Avatar Studios, in turn, was founded by the creators of the Avatar series, which gives us a lot to hope for.
The new Avatar title is set to be the brand’s biggest game to date and apparently takes you several thousand years into the past. The development team promises a vibrant world in which you can master all four elements, dynamic battles alongside companions and “the challenges and decisions that come with being the keeper of balance in the world.”
“At Saber, we are all true fans of the brands we work with,” said Josh Austin, head of IP development and licensing at Saber Interactive. “Our team members are some of the most dedicated and passionate creators around, and we are honored to partner with Avatar Studios and Paramount Games to further expand the Avatar Legends universe in video games. This unique co-financing structure is the result of our ever-growing collaboration with Paramount, which started with WWZ over a decade ago, and we look forward to everything that lies ahead.”
In any case, Saber Interactive seems to have discovered the development of games for well-known brands and it recently worked brilliantly with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Apart from that, the studio is also working on Jurassic Park: Survival and A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.
