Avowed, the upcoming role-playing game from Obsidian, won’t be released until February, but the PR and marketing machine is slowly rolling in with new information about the game.
Avowed is certainly already on the list of many role-playing fans, as Obsidian Entertainment has a pretty good reputation. It’s a bit stupid that since the last postponement the title will be released almost at the same time as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, namely on February 18, 2025. So it will be a tough month for role players, especially with Civilization VII, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Monster Hunter Wilds to come There are big chunks in February. Ouch.
And somehow it’s quite funny since, according to a recent interview with Phil Spencer, Microsoft didn’t postpone the release for quality reasons, but rather to save the title from the rather busy autumn. It probably didn’t quite work out given the strong February releases.
Anyway, Obsidian has now ended its slumber and is slowly but surely releasing more information about Avowed. This starts with the fact that pre-orders are now possible. Several editions are planned. In addition to the Standard Edition, there will also be a Digital Premium Edition with a digital art book and soundtrack as well as two skin packs, garnished with early access to the game from February 13th – five days before the actual release.
The collectors were also thought of. For them there is a Steelbook Premium Edition, which, in addition to the content of the Digital Premium Edition, also includes a Steelbook and a map of the Living Lands. However, the game itself is only included as a key; a disc is not included.
In addition, Obsidian has announced that Avowed will not only be available via Steam and Windows Store, but also via Blizzard’s Battle.Net, one of the small advantages of Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard.
Obsidian has also commented on the minimum system requirements on the PC. To play Avowed on a PC with minimal settings, you’ll need either a Ryzen 5 2600 or an i5-8400, along with an RX 5700, a GeForce GTX 1070, or an Arc A580. There is also 16 GB of RAM, an SSD and around 75 GB of free storage space. Nvidia Ray Tracing, DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex are supported to give your graphics a real boost.
