The new role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment is probably at the top of the list of many genre fans. There hasn’t been an exact release date yet, only 2024 is being mentioned. But according to rumors, this now also seems to be in danger.
Usually, the information provided by Tom Warren turns out to be fairly reliable. The senior editor of The Verge has excellent connections in the gaming industry and often gets exclusive insider information.

Now he claims to have learned that role-playing game fans will have to be a little more patient. Because, as Warren tweeted, Avowed will no longer be released in 2024. So far, the official announcement has been that the role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment will be released sometime this year, but Microsoft has not yet announced a specific date. Rumors have it that November 2024 was being discussed.
According to Warren and his source, Avowed will be postponed until 2025. But anyone who thinks that the bad polishing is once again a reason for the postponement is very much mistaken. Apparently, the developers want to avoid the numerous competitors and also take some of the pressure off the Xbox Game Pass.
A perfectly understandable explanation, if it is true. After all, a look at the release calendar reveals a lot of competition with Metaphor: ReFantazio, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, Mario & Luigi Brothership, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl and many more games.
As always, we should take this information with a grain of salt. Nothing has been officially confirmed or denied yet. Perhaps we will find out more at the Opening Night Live of Gamescom. This will take place on August 20, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. and is often used by studios to store information of this kind.
