Back 4 Blood may have received mixed reviews, but thanks to the leak of a potential (silly) codename, a sequel may be in the works.
Last year, Back 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock released a job listing hinting that the studio would be developing another spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead in the co-op zombie genre. There wasn’t much to do back then, and Turtle Rock wouldn’t list what it was doing in its job description, but now, as MP1st discovered, one actor’s resume has done motion capture for various shows . Other games may have inadvertently revealed that Back 4 Blood 2 is in development.

Under the motion capture section, he’s shown to have worked on games like Gears of War, Dead by Daylight, and a Star Wars project (presumably Battlefront, since it’s from EA), as well as one from Turtle Rock Studios. A game called “Gobi 2”. For those of you who don’t know (and why you would know), Gobi was the codename for the original Back 4 Blood, so you can only assume that Gobi 2 is actually Back 4 Blood 2. As ridiculous as it is for a game to be called Back 4 Blood 2 – that’s way too many numbers – it’s even more ridiculous to have your next game’s codename be the same as your last one, with 2 added to the end.
Obviously this is just speculation, but considering the actor’s roles in other games, there’s not much reason to think they won’t at least appear in the upcoming Turtle Rock game. Additionally, a domain name for Back 4 Blood 2 was registered back in May and is still active, so unless someone else snuck in and acquired the domain, a sequel seems to be a pretty safe bet.
While the original Back 4 Blood wasn’t exactly a hit with players at the time, reviews are now increasingly positive, and our own Sherif was already a fan upon release.
