Sorry folks, Starfield’s latest update aims to eliminate the infamous and rather adorable pet rock bugs that have been providing endless fun to players since they first explored the universe.
If you’re unfamiliar, the game has long been home to happy little space rocks that could somehow end up being swept into the orbit of your ship and accompany you on your travels. Some players end up with just a temporary companion, while others find themselves being stalked by an entire family of asteroids.

Unfortunately, in the notes for the August 1988 update, Bethesda stated that it now “fixes an issue that would cause space matter to become stuck.” [the] The player’s ship during space travel. “Loading saves will now remove spatial glue,” it adds. It also aims to address an Outpost-centric bug that could prevent “guns from randomly spawning in newly created weapon crates after loading a save.”
If you’re disappointed about losing your asteroid friends, you might want to try booting up the game before holding a funeral for them, as some players on Reddit have reported that their asteroid friends still seem to be hanging around after the app update.
