Bad news for Star Wars fans, the only film in the program has just been postponed indefinitely. There is no film planned yet.
The only Star Wars film on the program was Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, director Patty Jenkins, who also has a busy schedule as she is also working on Wonder Woman 3 and a film dedicated to Cleopatra. The SW film about the most famous X-Wings season was originally planned for December 20, 2023.
No more Star Wars films for Disney?
It is now actually certain that there is no longer a Star Wars film with strict programming. All license-based audiovisual content projects that we are aware of are Disney+ series. According to the American site Puck, Patty Jenkins and Lucasfilms executives could not agree on the scenario of this spin-off. The future of the film is therefore more than uncertain and we don’t even know if it will happen one day. One can imagine another director taking over, as is often the case in such situations.
The other awaited film was director Taika Waititi’s, due out in 2023. But since nothing has been started for the time being, and the news about him is not very good, there is a high probability of not seeing Star Wars films for quite a while. In general, all of the Star Wars movies have been on standby since August and this Rogue Squadron news isn’t going to fix things.
The only SW film that still seems to be in the program is not a live feature film but an animated one, a certain A Droid Story which is said to feature R2-D2 and C3PO.
