Fallout: London is a massive Fallout 4 mod that's been winning pretty fiercely recently in the “cool Fallout-themed game that people love but suffers from some tricky launch bugs due to STALKER 2” 's competition, which features some very funny cameos.
Neil Newbon, the voice actor for Baldur's Gate 3, is one of the most well-known figures, along with some more famous in British culture than the game, such as former Speaker of the House of Commons John · John Bercow. Now, Newbon has offered up his own reasons for getting involved with the mod, providing some fresh details to go with the story of the overlooked DM we heard during our interview with the Team FOLON project lead over the summer.

Speaking to GINX TV's The Games That Made Me series, Newbon said: “Astarion and Baldur's Gate 3 just kicked off in a great way. I heard that Fallout London had been around for a while, and I had sent them a message about two years ago saying, 'Hey, this sounds great, I'm a fan of Fallout, and it's a free mod. no [an] question. I'm happy to help. They missed hearing from me for about a year and a half. “
Newbon further explored why he was willing to offer his services for free in this situation, adding: “I think when an actor becomes successful, an indie or a double A or whatever, they think they can't afford it. It's a danger to pay your bills, so, you know, you see an actor winning an award doesn't mean you can't afford it, because ultimately we're just doing it as actors, and it's a good reminder that we're actually doing it. Actors. Do it for the craft.”
The actor also backed up the FOLON team's claims about Barry's boat – that his character is a robot wedged into a boat that players can use to cross the Thames back and forth – which was the result of a very collaborative effort between him and the modders .
Newbon drew inspiration from the character in the classic British sitcom On the Bus (ask your parents or grandma if you weren't around in the '60s or early '70s), admitting that for the character “that's probably what it is now There is a problem.”
There's a particular character named Inspector Cyril who has some of Hitler's collection and he's like a real crew member,” he said. “So I thought elements of that would be interesting for the Barry ship because Barry A boat is basically a bus.
“I just thought it would be fun to add that element to him. He's kind of very depressed, very sullen, everything is a problem. Very British, you know, everything is a nightmare. I don't have any say in the lipstick, but we There was definitely a lot of improvisation going on.”
To be honest, I'm a little sad now that I didn't think of something as wonderful as “very British, you know, everything was a nightmare” to describe my time playing Fallout: London to look back on, back in the day. A couple of previous patches addressed some of these startup bugs.
Neil Newbon's series “The Games That Made Me” airs on GINX TV throughout December. GINX TV is available in the UK on Freeview channel 282 and Sky Glass channel 419, and on the Ginx.tv website.
