Among other things, the question arose as to what extent Baldur's Gate III relates to the story in relation to the first two titles that were then developed by BioWare. Creative Director Swen Vincke has a pretty clear answer: "We don't want to give anything away, but we wouldn't call it Baldur's Gate III if there was no connection. According to this, there should be some significant cross-references to the story of the first two parts.
You will also meet a number of the previous characters. The events of the first games should also form the basis of what happens in the third part. This is not meant to be clear from the start, but it becomes clearer the further you progress in the game.
A big difference to the earlier parts, however, lies in the rules. While the first two titles were based on Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition, Baldur's Gate III relies on the fifth edition. These include the total of 12 playable classes of the final game. However, only six of them will be available for the early access launch.
Baldur's Gate III is scheduled for early access this year, but there is no specific release date yet. The only thing that is certain is that the role-playing game will initially appear for PC and Google Stadia; concrete information about possible console versions is not yet available.
