Larian Studios has announced a major Patch 8 for the hit title Baldur's Gate III, bringing cross-play and much more!
Anyone who thought that nothing would happen with Baldur's Gate III would be disappointed. Larian Studios has now announced and presented a very extensive Patch 8 for the RPG epic. This is scheduled to be released at the beginning of 2025, with a test phase for the new features starting in January.
In the new update, the developers are including some of the features most frequently requested by the community. This includes, above all, cross-play, which will be possible with the release of Patch 8. Via Larian Network, players on different platforms can then embark on their journey through Faerun together.
In addition to the cross-play feature, the much-requested photo mode is also included in the title, which will allow you to take beautiful screenshots. There will be various settings for the photo lens, as well as post-processing options and more – nothing will stand in the way of the perfect snapshot, after all you can also showcase it with frames, stickers and more.
Another big surprise in Patch 8: There will be another 12 new subclasses, one for each main class. In this context there are new abilities, animations, summons and even newly recorded lines of dialogue. The following subclasses are planned:
- Bard – College of Glamour
- Barbarian – Path of Giants
- Cleric – Death Domain
- Druid – Circle of Stars
- Paladin – Oath of the Crown
- Fighter – Arcane Archer
- Monk – Drunken Master
- Ranger – Swarmkeeper
- Rogue – Swashbuckler
- Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
- Warlock – Hexblade
- Wizard – Bladesinging
Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate III does not yet have a specific release date; but this is scheduled to be published in 2025. The stress test of the new update mentioned above will take place at the beginning of January 2025.
Larian Studios had previously released a comprehensive patch 7 for the epic, which brought new cinematics, bad endings and an in-game mod manager. Playing via split screen has also been improved in depth.
