The scope and possibilities of Baldur’s Gate III are without question impressive. For example, the role-playing hit offers a whopping 17,000 endings. Yes, you read that right. But someone has to formulate all these possibilities and now Larian Studios is clear about how much time went into creating it.
To be very clear: there are 17,000 endings in Baldur’s Gate III. Many games and development studios boast about their diverse options and story resolutions, but this number is impressive even for the role-playing sector. But with great ends come great work.

In an interview, game director Swen Vincke explained how much working time went into writing the endings of Baldur’s Gate III. According to an interview with IGN, author Chrystal Ding worked on them for six months in the early access phase alone. In total, she even spent a whole year of her working life creating the dialogues. Of course, that’s only part of the time for the endings, after all Ding didn’t write them entirely on his own.
Of course, Swen Vincke also admits that not all endings are equally detailed. Nevertheless, we have to admit to Larian Studios that the sheer number is crazy and proves how many player decisions have an impact and don’t just make us believe that they are relevant.
Continuing on the endings, Vincke says, “Yes, some are subtle and some depend on what your party makeup is, but just look at the number of lines that had to be done in the epilogues. It really is Crowd.”
This definitely shows the passion that Larian put into Baldur’s Gate III and which earned the role-playing game the well-deserved title of Game of the Year at the Game Awards. It’s almost a shame that we probably won’t get to see all the endings.
