Classic Batman villain Clayface will appear in the upcoming Creature Squad, and you may recognize his voice.
Next month, the first canon entry in James Gunn’s new DCU is coming, Creature Commandos, an animated series about some of the lesser-known characters from the DC Comics universe. series. Phosphorus, a member of the aforementioned biocommando team, is voiced by Alan Tudyk, an actor you’ve heard of from a number of projects before, such as K- in Star Wars: Rogue One. 2SO, King Candy from “Wreck-It Ralph”, and the chicken from “Moana”. But he also plays another DC character: Clayface, whom he voiced in the animated Harley Quinn. In a recent interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Tudyk confirmed that he will also be voicing Clayface in the upcoming Creature Squad, though not the same version of the character.

“I play Clayface in this series,” Tudyk nonchalantly shared, making sure to point out that the version he voiced in Harley Quinn was “an idiot,” but on this show, he’s A ‘killer.’ He’s a murderer. So it’s the same character, which is really cool for DC, I can play the same character two completely different ways, and I don’t even have to ask James Just let me play Clayface, which is great.” It makes him the new DCU. The first Batman character in the series, before the Big Bad Bat himself, it at least feels in line with Gunn’s different approach to creating a comic book movie universe.
It’s worth noting here that it was previously reported that Tudyk had a “secret role” in Gunn’s Superman movie, which means we might be seeing him as live-action Clayface sooner than you think. Considering Tudyk’s versatility as an actor, this could indeed be another role, but we’ll have to wait until July 11, 2025, the release date of Gunn’s Superman movie.
