More details about the new part of the Battlefield series are gradually being revealed. This time the focus is on the setting, the weapons and the maps!
It was a good week for Battlefield fans, because for the first time Vince Zampella spoke in more detail about the new part of the shooter franchise, which is due to be released in 2025 and which is expected to be much better than the last Battlefield 2042. In the course of these first statements, a number of previous speculations were confirmed: the return to games with 64 players, a classic class system consisting of four classes and the back-to-basics approach.
As a result, General Manager Bryon Beede confirmed a large-scale community testing phase in early 2025, coupled with the statement that the new Battlefield has been tested internally almost daily for over a year. And: A “new gaming experience” from Ripple Effect has also been confirmed, which is said to be an accompanying Battle Royale spin-off that will then take on Call of Duty: Warzone.
Is that still not enough for you? The men of Insider Gaming We now have even more information and details about the next Battlefield for you in the person of renowned insider Tom Henderson. First of all, the setting is being made more concrete!
The next Battlefield will take place in the near future between 2027 and 2030. The campaign focuses on the conflict between a huge private military group that is taking on NATO. This conflict subsequently extends to various locations around the globe, including the United States and Gibraltar, which fans have already identified as a setting based on the first published artwork. The USA, on the other hand, is also said to be the setting for the Battle Royale experience mentioned above.
In his new article, Henderson also discussed the multiplayer mode and the planned content. According to him, the new Battlefield will probably have 45 different weapons at launch, which would double the number of weapons compared to Battlefield 2042. The goal is still to provide around 10 multiplayer maps, which would put the title in line with the earlier parts Battlefield 1, 3 and 4, which are often cited as references.
It also goes on to say that the destruction system is being fundamentally revised; whether this will involve the return of Levolution has not yet been verified. However, the next Battlefield will have a caliber-based destruction model – similar to what you know from Rainbow Six: Siege. This means that different weapon calibers also leave different amounts of destruction in the game environment.
The movement system is also set to be adjusted and revised; several sources have confirmed that you will now be able to pick up and move downed players.
The final name for the new Battlefield has not yet been decided and is being discussed internally. There were also large-scale surveys in which participants could vote on whether they would prefer Battlefield or Battlefield 6 for the shooter – so the direction seems fairly clear in this regard.
