This is an unusually busy post Battlefield 2042. Even according to the series standards, the game is still in a very rough state. Technical issues, connection issues, performance issues, confusing design decisions, problematic balances, and a large number of missing features all make the first impression of many players worse.
In the following weeks, DICE released four patches of different sizes and ranges. The largest of them brought back many classic features, made further adjustments to the shootout, solved some outstanding balance issues, and fixed a long list of errors.
Battlefield 2042 is now much better than four weeks ago, and EA seems to agree. The publisher took an unprecedented move and opened the first free weekend in the game’s history. However, the strange thing is that it is only available on Steam-not EA’s own store, or PlayStation and Xbox storefronts.
The Battlefield 2042 Steam Free Weekend gives you unlimited access to the game’s various modes, weapons and experts. If you purchase the full version, all your progress will be carried over to the full version. The trial ended on Monday, December 20.
The game is also sold almost everywhere, including brick-and-mortar retailers. This obviously includes Steam, which has a 34% discount on the standard version.
DICE recently expanded the usability of Rush playlists and added 64-player Conquest and Breakthrough on PCs and new consoles. Portal also launched its own holiday theme.
