This week promises to be a big one Battlefield 2042. The game’s first season post-release content is finally over, and we’ll be taking a first look at it today. DICE will be releasing the S1: Zero game trailer today at 8AM PT, 11AM ET, 4PM UK.
That’s not all, a major new update was released across all platforms earlier this morning. Update 1.0.0 includes some balance tweaks and quality of life improvements.
The patch adds smoother soldier animations, matching animations from recent Battlefield games, and does away with the clunky-looking third-person character animations in Battlefield 2042. Bullets and hit registration are another major item addressed in this patch, and this comes with the Balance Pass for LMGs, DMRs, and Shotguns.
In response to criticism that Battlefield 2042 lacked key XP events found in past games, today’s update adds new events for killing enemies shortly after they kill or injuring teammates, and for destroying teammates later when you kill them Bonuses are given to vehicles that deal damage.
Speaking of vehicles, you should now notice more vehicles in Conquest, especially transports. This only applies to vehicles in the world. There’s also a list of changes for various experts, but the most meaningful impact is at Sundance.
Her wingsuit won’t keep her in the air for as long as she used to, but it will be easier to control. Sundance also no longer includes the EMP as part of her grenade kit.
Going forward, DICE promises an overhaul of the experts, but the developers have yet to touch on the specifics, or really discuss the goals of this exercise in detail.
