Game news Battlefield 2042: Two weeks after publication, spectators already at half mast?
Arrived on November 19, 2021, Battlefield 2042 seems to be on the decline despite the futuristic armada – modes, features. Definitely so suggests the Steam stats as well as those of the Xbox trophies being passed on by the VG247 media.
Almost like wartime, the arrival of Battlefield 2042 is punctuated by many events, despite an initial wave of positive reviews from the press (a nice 18/20 for us). Electronic Arts FPS is currently the subject of dozens of negative reviews on Steamwhere the opinion is set to “rather negative”. Players question the optimization of the PC version, the number of vehicles that would disrupt infantry gameplay, or even the feel of firearms. Well-founded or not, these reviews currently occupy the media space of Battlefield 2042. But that’s not all.
Battlefield 2042 in free fall on Steam?
The media VG247 was actually interested in Steam FPS statistics via the Steam DB site. And the observation calls: In the last 24 hours the highest peak number of simultaneous players for Battlefield 2042 on the Valve platform exceeds just under 30,000, while there were over 105,000 in the past twelve days. A 60% drop lifts VG247, who can’t help but a little humor: “It looks like Farming Simulator 22 is currently more popular than Battlefield 2042”. Note that these numbers only apply to Steam. But other information is not very reassuring.
Now on Xbox and PlayStation
So, in order to measure the temperature of the Xbox and PlayStation versions of Battlefield 2042, the American media took an interest in the True Achievements site, which provides information on the trophies unlocked by the players. And on Xbox, only 43% of them would have reached level 15, a move that usually happens pretty quickly after a few days of play, and if we’re interested in level 25, this time it got 22% on the same platform versus 36% on PlayStation. In any case, nothing to calm down. In early December, Electronic Arts and DICE are planning a major solution to improve the experience.
