For almost three months now, Battlefield 5 players have been complaining about the weapon balance being changed in Update 5.2. The fan criticism was so violent that many players threatened to simply stop playing. DICE has already promised in the past that they will tackle the problem again after Update 6.
Now the developers have cleaned up in a blog post. With Update 6.2 the time-to-kill (TTK) will be patched to almost the same level as before the controversial 5.2 update. The patch is expected released next week on March 4, 2020
This changes Patch 6.2 on the Gunplay
As I said, Update 6.2 resets the TTK to a level similar to that of 5.0. However, a few changes remain. However, these are nowhere near as drastic as before. What does it mean exactly?
- The damage values of short-range weapons are completely reset to the TTK of 5.0.
- There are still slight deviations at medium and long distances.
- Weapon damage over long distances is no longer dependent on the rate of fire. Instead, the weapon class determines whether the damage is less or not. Assault rifles and LMGs, for example, are more powerful than SMGs.
- Most weapons’s recoil is also back to Update 5.0. The only exception is the Type 2A, which is much easier to handle than before for balance reasons.
In the developer update, DICE also provides a simple comparison table from which you can see the different damage values of the different versions using the example of the FG-42:
In addition to the new weapon balance, Update 6.2 should also change even more. DICE has not yet revealed how the whole thing looks in detail. It is known that there will be even more improvements in the area of gadgets, vehicles, soldiers, maps and modes. The developers are also continuing to improve the stability of Battlefield 5.
In addition, Update 6.2 introduces a new feature. With the so-called tank customization, you can also completely customize your tanks optically. It is a feature that fans have been looking for for a long time.
