The shifting of chairs continues around the Battlefield franchise. The shooter series loses another creative director.
Last month, Marcus Lehto said goodbye to the long-standing shooter series Battlefield to devote himself to new things, but as it now turns out, the departure of the game director is by no means the only prominent loss. Now the Battlefield series is also losing a creative director.
In this case, what is meant is Craig Morrison, who has been responsible for the Battlefield franchise as creative director since August 2021. In December 2022 he was even promoted to studio creative director when “Mr. Battlefield” Lars Gustavsson left the studio. According to his LinkedIn profile, he left the development studio in February 2024 to join Blue Scarab Entertainment.
What this all means for the Battlefield franchise and its specific future remains to be seen with excitement. It is at least rather unusual for two high-ranking directors to leave in this phase of development of the next shooter part.
Lehto, former director of Ridgeline Games, left the franchise last month, and shortly afterwards EA closed the studio completely in the context of laying off a total of 670 employees. Laura Miele, President of EA Entertainment, spoke at the time of a “personal decision” by Lehto to leave the project; However, the work should continue without interruption. From then on, management of the work on the new Battlefield was transferred to Criterion. There is no statement from EA yet regarding Morrison’s departure.
