Battlefield 2042 is generally considered a flop, but that’s why EA is far from leaving the shooter franchise in the future. A new developer studio should lead the shooter into the future, at least in terms of the campaign.

Electronic Arts hat on its official website fresh details revealed on the future of Battlefield after the flopped Battlefield 2042. In the course of this, Ridgeline Games, a new in-house developer studio, was introduced that will take care of the narrative campaign in the Battlefield universe in the future.

The brand new studio is based in Seattle and is led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto. He is joined by numerous gaming industry veterans who come from all corners of the globe. The studio is “excited to tell stories and take players on incredible adventures only possible within the Battlefield universe.”

Lehto himself, of course, made his own statement in a statement, saying: “It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to work with DICE and Ripple Effect and to have responsibility for the narrative possibilities, storytelling and character development in the Battlefield series to expand.”

In addition to the statement from the game director and head of Ridgeline Games, veteran Vince Zampella, the Respawn founder and head of Battlefield franchise, adds: “We will continue to invest in the future of the franchise by bringing new talent and perspectives on board.”

More content will appear for Battlefield 2042 first; Season 2 had only recently started in the current shooter part. It is not yet known when the first results from Ridgeline can be expected.
