Battlefield 2042 may be the more current part, but Battlefield V is still being played diligently. That’s why EA now wants to give the title an important new feature in the fight against cheaters.
The development team behind Battlefield V has officially confirmed that the EA Anti-Cheat system will soon also be implemented in the older shooter. After the game gained popularity again, cheaters turned out to be a bigger problem – and war will now be declared on them next week on April 3, 2024.
EA Anti-Cheat is a kernel-level system designed to help combat modern cheating software. Battlefield 2042 had already received such an upgrade with this system last year in 2023. As a result, significant improvements in the fight against cheaters were evident, although the problem could not be completely put to rest.
In the FAQ, Electronic Arts states that EA Anti-Cheat is being kept as “performant and lightweight as possible”. In short: The use of this software should otherwise not lead to any noticeable effects in terms of performance and gameplay. However, a separate installation is not necessary. As soon as the update is made available on April 3rd, EA Anti-Cheat will automatically be used with the next game launch.
It’s not really surprising that EA is taking this step: Battlefield V continues to be extremely popular among series fans and most recently had over 53,000 gamers. For comparison: the more recent Battlefield 2042 had around 43,000 gamers.
