The star wars fever has come back to me with the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the premiere of the Season 2 of Star Wars: Visions and all the recent announcements like the trailer for Ahsoka. Without forgetting the own “May the 4th be With You” (Star Wars Day), which was celebrated on May 4th.
After getting the Platinum Eat: Survivor, I downloaded Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Battlefront II to continue living adventures in that galaxy far, far away that amazes us so much with each new work. In case you are interested, Fallen Order It’s still exceptional, although Survivor’s improvements make it “different” to play, and Battlefront II It’s still just addictive.
First I installed Star Wars Battlefront on my PS5. Needless to say, multiplayer is completely dead. I went straight to Battlefront II on PS5 and things changed a bit. It’s hard to find people playing on the Supremacy servers during the week, although there are usually more on the weekends. I have it on good authority that on PC and consoles of the last generation it is easier to find players.
Star Wars Battlefront III: All the variety of Battlefront II, but better
I have no problems with the servers Battlefront II Supremacy do not fill up on PS5. The Electronic Arts video game, despite all its flaws (especially during launch), has a very varied selection of game modes.
Multiplayer modes are only the tip of the iceberg that is Battlefront II. It also has cooperative modes that pits a group of players against the AI in Supremacy, attack/defense modes or whatever the host prefers, since the games are fully customizable. And the AI on hard difficulty is no nonsense.
On the other hand, there various solo modes: from Arcade, going through the same modes that we have in cooperative, to a Campaign Mode whose story is canon in the Star Wars chronology. And why do I tell you all this? Because it is precisely the first point in my dream of a Battlefront III: that has the same variety of modes designed for all types of players.
Beyond the Skywalker Saga in Battlefront III
Battlefront II covers the war history of the entire Saga Skywalker: The Clone Wars (Republic Vs Separatists), Imperial Dominion (Rebels Vs Empire) and finally The First Order, which engages in open warfare against the Resistance. Each faction is unique and has its own soldiers, although within the same classes: assault, gunner, commander and marksman as the basic ones, and other special types (stealth, heavy, jetpack) accessible through points.
I don’t think the troops section needs many changes for Battlefront III. The system of basic troops and eligible troops/vehicles through starting points seems great to me. The only thing I would add would be new class called meleeshows James K in his video… whose title was quite optimistic.
The absence of many key characters (heroes and villains) of Star Wars in Battlefront II did not go unnoticed by fans. In fact, many continue to dream of the arrival of more characters, as happened with Rey Skywalker, Finn and Phasma. Some notable absences have been the Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Plo Koon, and the Inquisitors, who we have been able to see in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order y Survivor.
The Star Wars universe has grown a lot since Battlefront II It was launched in 2017 (which is said soon), which means that Battlefront III could count on many of the characters who have gained fame in recent years. He would keep the current ones and add a few more with his own abilities and synergies with other compatible characters.
- Mace Windu (several movies and series).
- Plo Koon (several movies and series).
- Inquisitors (Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor mainly)
- Cal Kestis and Dagan Gera (Jedi: Survivor).
- Ahsoka Tano (several series)
- Captain Rex and Commander Cody (The Clone Wars).
- Poe Dameron (The Force Awakens Trilogy).
- Jyn Erso (Rogue One).
- Din Djarin y Grogu (The Mandalorian).
- Droide IG-11 (The Mandalorian).
- Bo-Katan Kryze (The Mandalorian and The Clone Wars).
- Moff Gideon (The Mandalorian).
- Saw Gerrera (several movies, series and video games).
- Clone Force 99 (The Bad Consignment).
- Cassian Andor (Andor).
- Grand Admiral Thrawn (various series).
- Asajj Ventress (The Clone Wars).
- Cad Bane (various series).
The introduction of so many characters would lead to a big problem when it comes to assigning abilities. For this reason, I think it would be interesting if the dream Battlefront III had a synergy system between different characters. Two examples: Clone Force 99 soldiers would benefit each other more and Darth Vader could increase the power of the Inquisitors.
More and better battles
There are two points in which Battlefront II should improve in the face of the dream Battlefront III: the map design and the number of weapons. The maps wouldn’t necessarily have to be bigger, but they would have better design and a bit more destruction. Not too much because it’s not nice that the battlefield turns into a potato patch after several bombardments.
Another aspect related to the maps that Battlefront II of 2005 had and that Battlefront II of 2017 does not have are the star battles combined with infantry battles in spaceships. In Supremacy, troops land directly on the enemy flagship through a cinematic. In the original video game you had to take off from our base in fighters or transport ships to reach the enemy ship.
And we come to weapons, a topic that has pissed off many users in the community for years. There are very few. The Star Wars universe is not distinguished by its number of weapons, but it wouldn’t bother anyone if the developers of Battlefront III
Battlefront III is too epic in my mind
I do not think that Battlefront III It should be a video game that would revolutionize shooters and introduce a thousand new things. Quite the opposite. The base of Battlefront and Battlefront II is very good. Making a general review of all the comments, this would be the sequel to my dreams:
- enter a good story mode with a duration of 5-10 hours.
- Keep them multiplayer, coop and solo modes by Battlefront II.
- new scenarios and design improvements of maps.
- more content base and post-launch: maps, weapons, characters, etc. You wouldn’t be disgusted to shop for alternative skins of all the Fortnite-style characters. And more variety of cards for each character.
- Graphic improvements, good performance and smooth running of servers. Next gen game.
In case you haven’t noticed, I want a Battlefront III. I do not hide. Although the Force is not with me this time. Last April, Michael Barclayformer developer of Star Wars Battlefront III, confessed on Twitter that the game was in development and that it was canceled “two meters from the finish line“.
Translation: I feel like enough time has passed to go out there and say that Star Wars Battlefront III was going to be amazing and the fact that it was canceled 2 meters from the finish line is an absolute crime. The players do not know what was stolen from them.
In short, there is not much hope for Star Wars Battlefront III come soon… if there is still any plan to revive the saga. 2023 marks the 6th anniversary of the launch of Battlefront II and everything indicates that the video game will continue without receiving content and that its sequel is still in a galaxy far, far away.
